EtherealEstephania:

Meryl Streep tells the story of Deborah Sampson, the first woman in history to take a bullet for her country…amazing how this story isn’t told in classes throughout the nation & that her name isn’t known.

Deborah Sampson was a badass. Al Yong wrote her biography, its titled Masquerade: The Life and Times of Deborah Sampson, Continental Soldier.

It is so important that we learn about the contributions women have made in history. It’s disheartening that there is only the token woman mentioned in standard history classes and that you need to take a separate women’s history class in order to learn more.

Women’s history = people’s history. It should be integrated, imo.

About

Saying things like "I'm not like other girls" or "I only hang out with guys because girls are so catty" doesn't make you a special snowflake, it just perpetuates internalized misogyny (and makes you look like an asshole).
